When is the Best Time to Remove Weeds ?

When is the Best Time to Remove Weeds ?

They say that prevention is better than cure, and this couldn’t be truer when it comes to every gardener’s nemesis – weeds. Springtime can be a particularly busy time in the garden, so try to get a head start before weeds start growing.

I) Time your weeding

When it comes to killing bothersome weeds, April is the best – and arguably the most important – month to do so. Get on top of weeds before they have time to wreak their unruly havoc on your garden! Your best bet is to treat them thoroughly with a weedkiller that goes right down to the root, which will wipe out any chance of them growing back. It is essential to treat weeds now, to prevent the dissemination of seedlings and the spreading of weeds throughout the year. You’ll thank yourself later!

II) Accommodate your garden

People can thrive and reach their full potential in a conducive, productive environment. This is also the case for your garden. It is just as important to give your plants, shrubs, lawn and trees the best environment in which to grow and flourish. Keep an eye out for any unwelcome vegetation creeping into the borders of flower beds, vegetable patches and lawns. Use a systemic weedkiller as a type of vigilant border control when needed.

III) Clean up paved areas

As the frost disappears, and we begin to spend more time outdoors, weeds growing in paths, patios, driveways and paved areas become more obvious and can be a real eyesore. Continue weed treatment of such areas to make sure the surrounds of your house and garden are in prime condition for everybody to admire. Pouring boiling water onto weedy paved areas can work as a short-term solution, as the very hot temperature should be enough to kill anything growing. However, if you want to be sure that those weeds will notw come back, use a glyphosate systemic killer such as Roundup. If you don’t like the idea of constantly bending over to treat these ground level weeds, Roundup has the perfect solution – you can use an uprighta handy spray bottle to effectively treat these lowly weeds without having to break a sweat.
