Lawn renewal with Roundup

Control weeds in lawn with Roundup Weedkiller

When a lawn is not regularly maintained, it can deteriorate. However, with proper maintenance: regular cutting; fertilizer; calcification and watering when necessary, the lawn will thrive for many years. Without this maintenance it gradually gets infested with perennial broadleaf weeds and weed grasses which take over from the seeded species, making it look untidy.

Also, when creating a new lawn the area to be transformed might have some perennial weeds that will not disappear with simple soil cultivation. Before creating a new lawn or refreshing an existing one, the weeds need to be treated and Roundup products are ideal for this.

When to start lawn renewal?

The best period is September - early October. That way, during autumn and spring, the new grass can grow without being hindered by garden activities.

How to renew the lawn with a Roundup product?

Let the old lawn, or weedy area grow so that there is adequate leaf surface available (lawn 5 - 10 cm high depending on species). Spray on a dry day, at a high dose level, so that even the difficult weeds are controlled.

After 1 to 2 weeks the weeds will turn yellow. Prior to sowing the new seed the ground will benefit from being cultivated and fertilized. The grass type can selected depending on the usage: sports- or ornamental lawn, sun or shadow grass. When there is a thick bed of dying vegetation, it is better to take it away for composting. Keep the soil moist (no logging) during germination of the new grass. By mid spring the lawn will be dense and fit for all garden activities.

Recommended Products

When can my children/pets use an area where Roundup has been applied?

The moment Roundup has dried. It deactivates on contact with soil, and is degraded by micro organisms leaving no residues in the soil.

Why has Roundup killed my lawn?

Roundup should never be used on lawns. Because it kills all plants with green leaf tissue, Roundup is actually a very effective grass killer.

When can I replant/reseed after treatment?

Immediately, if you want to. We recommend, however, leaving the weeds at least 7 to 10 days to absorb the optimum amount of Roundup.
